Lose weight, but don't lose your peace of mind.

Being obese is not fun. If you are overweight you have experienced the pain of extra pounds. But before you decide that by hook or by crook you will be slim again, you need to consider some important issues. Firstly are you sure that you are dangerously overweight? Consulting your doctor in this matter will not be a bad idea.

Most of the time people get started on a diet because they think they are overweight, when actually there bodyweight is well within safe limits. Don't be one of them. Don't try to be fat-free just because it is fashionable. Remember body fat is required ingredient of our system!

But if your doctor confirms that you really need to lose weight, you should pay heed, and start thinking on ways of losing weight. Choose your method wisely and don't expect overnight results. Most of the people fail to lose substantial weight because they expect quick results and get discouraged after one or two weeks. Just take it easy, don't let losing-weight to be an obsession.

If you get started on a diet or join a gym make sure the whole process is easy on you. If it's not easy to follow you cannot stay with it. Losing weight by exercising or by controlling diet takes a lot of determination and self-discipline. Dieting and exercising do work to reduce your bodyweight. But for people not endowed with willpower of Robert Bruce it can be an uphill task.

No, I am asking you to live happily with your extra pounds, just don't overburden yourself with difficult methods of losing weight because you don't need to.Here are some simple ideas that will make your task easy and enjoyable.Accept yourself as you are: -- Don't feel guilty about your extra bodyweight. Accept yourself as you are and try to improve from that point on.

Exercise in a group: -- Exercising in a group is fun. And when you are part of a group there is little chance that you will miss your daily exercise-session.Don't punish yourself with bland food: -- True, controlling your diet can produce fast results. But it can also make your life colorless fast. Once in a while indulge yourself with good food. But keep the amount small just to make sure that you don't cross the limit.Build a community of people with same goal: -- When your moral is down and you feel your efforts are not getting you anywhere a community of like-minded people can help you the most.

Use your mind's power: -- There are various mind power programs available for attaining ideal body weight. But only listening to the program and hoping somehow you will lose extra flab does not produce results. The point most of the users miss here is, these programs are designed to supplement your own exercising and dieting efforts. When used in conjunction with other methods these programs help you to stay focused on your goal and to work in a relaxed way to attain it successfully no matter how many distractions come your way. Bottom line is never make losing weight a dreadful duty. Whatever is your body weight never stop enjoying the beautiful life around you. If your program robs you of your mental peace there is no point continuing with that.

How To Lose Weight By Eliminating The Guesswork

If you're planning on losing weight, and you can do yourself a tremendous favor by eliminating as much guesswork as possible. I would venture to say that it is guesswork that is probably the cause of a large percentage of the frustration you may have had when trying to lose weight.

You decided you would cut back on certain things, and unfortunately, you found out that you didn't lose weight. At that point, you may felt that your weight loss plan didn't work. If you think about it really makes sense. Why should it work? Especially since your approach to losing weight was just on a whim and without a plan. What made you think you would be successful? It's not eating less that's important… it's what you eat less of that's important. The formula is actually pretty simple...to weigh less we simply need to burn more calories than we consume.

My most successful personal weight loss program has been one where I kept close track of every single thing I ate. This was first suggested to me by a friend of mine. Of course, I thought he was completely out of his mind, but decided to give it a try anyway.

I also decided that I would give my weight-loss experiment two weeks and then check my results after that time. I'd made the choice of cutting back on my carb intake as a focus of my two-week experiment. Each day, I would write down what I ate for every meal and record the calorie count of every meal. It really gave me a good feeling to keep a journal of what I was eating each day. I felt like I was an active participant in my own self-improvement, and that encouraged me and gave me the discipline to move forward and to not cut corners.

I have to admit that after the two-week period I was quite pleased with the results. I can honestly say without reservation that this system worked. If it worked for me I'm certain that something similar could quite easily work for you.The very first step would be to create a simple weight loss plan. Now here's something that's really important. I don't think it's necessary to make a lifelong commitment, in fact, you could even try a simple two-week experiment like I did. Then based upon the outcome of your experiment you can decide which direction to go after that. I do not even think it would be necessary for you to set a weight-loss goal, but to just see how much weight you can actually lose by following your weight-loss plan. This is much better than setting a potentially unrealistic goal. Setting and not achieving an unrealistic goal can not only be very discouraging but ineffective as well.

Some useful features for tracking weight loss include your own journal, goal setting functions, reports, etc. One of my favorite features is labeled "Activities". Here you can easily see the number of calories you will burn by performing certain activities. This may help you decide whether to walk, run, or bicycle based upon the number of calories you want to burn.

Knowing what to eat and how much of it to eat is a good first step to effective weight loss. The more you eliminate guesswork the closer you will be to living the healthy lifestyle that you desire.

Dangers of Morbid Obesity

There's an myth that if you don't lose the extra pounds by age 25 you'll be stuck with them for life.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Losing weight is a matter of mathematics and healthy lifestyle choices. We all know, or should know, by now that being excessively overweight can be very dangerous for us.

For those of you who haven't heard, obesity can cause the following problems:
• It can wear down joints, that may require surgery to repair
• Stress out your body
• Breathing problems like sleep apnea and asthma
• Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
• High cholesterol
• Liver disease
• Type II Diabetes
• Heart Disease
• Congestive Heart Failure
• Bladder Control Problems
• Stroke
• Greater Risk of Breast and Colon Cancer
• Depression

The best solution for dealing with excess weight is diet and exercise. If you're over 40 be sure to check with your doctor before starting any new diet or exercise programs.More than anything else DON'T DIET.

Dieting is a short term solution to a life long condition. Be certain to adopt a lifestyle. This means changing your eating habits and your exercise (or activity) habits.
